Jim Katen Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Does anyone happen to have a copy of Certainteed's installation instructions for their Weatherboards horizontal lap fibercement siding from 2004 or 2005? - Jim Katen, Oregon
patt Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I have the 11/03 instructions if that would help.
Chad Fabry Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Not to hijack the thread but I had to replace some Hardie smooth siding that I installed a few years ago because of some renovations. The new "zoned" hardie has a beveled drip edge and that wouldn't match the old square edged stuff on the house. I used the Certainteed product for the first time and I liked it. It's stiffer and easier to handle than Hardie, the edges are smoother and it doesn't have a totally stupid "nail here" line embossed on the face of the board which completely precludes cheating a few courses by an 1/8 to end up clean under a window or over a door. I had enough left over to install it on the ceiling below my balcony and now that it's painted, it's indistinguishable from wood planks. A Hardie rep informed me that they're going back to square edged product in 2011.
