It wasn't manufactured for residential use. Hutchinson Bros made coal ranges for hotels and ships.

Interesting. The house was built in '56 and I saw no way they could have gotten this thing in after the original construction. They must have put it in and built around it.

The chimney had three liners. Fireplace, oil burner, and this stove.

Obviously, the chimney got written up for various things.

I have long hoped that one day I'd stumble on an old residential coal or wood fired cooking stove. I've never seen one still in place, only in salvage yards.

I think I'll get one for my wife - maybe she'll stop her complaining!

I've got an old Iroquois gas range from around 1920 that I'd be willing to part with. The 1940 Roper Scientific in my kitchen isn't going anywhere though.
