I wonder if the owners were presented with the option of changing out the heating system and water heater with direct vent types rather than rebuilding an interior chimney?

Sounds like the last guy contacted about the problem, was the inspector. Strike one.

The inspector was shown pictures. Nothing about him returning to the home to address this in person. Strike two.

One estimate from one contractor who was hired to perform the recommended maintenance suggested by the inspector, and maybe saw another buck in it? Strike three.

Strike four. FACEBOOK. Right or wrong, this guy is screwed now.
