Exactly when is it proper to say "2 cell cooling tower" vs 2 cooling towers?

What are you trying to accomplish Joe?

Two cooling towers denotes two physically separate towers.

From another web site:

A dual-cell cooling tower consists of two attached towers, each with their own axial fan.Therefore a dual cell cooling tower has two axial fans, while a single cell cooling tower has one.

Each manufacture might have a different arrangement for accomplishing the same thing.

Do you have a make, model and serial from the tower shown in the picture?

I have a meeting coming up where I called the cooling tower in the picture a 2 cell cooling tower. Word on the street is that it is 2 cooling towers and I will be discussing with the client.

I just want to confirm the correct terminology.

For the good of people in the future...

For BAC:

Model: 3547-2CM

yields the following information

3000 series, 547 sometimes correlated *roughly* to tonnage but not in this case, -2 tells us 2 cell, CM is accessories/options

Great post.

Cooling towers are heat removal devices used to transfer process waste heat to the atmosphere. Cooling towers may either use the evaporation of water to remove process heat and cool the working fluid to near the wet-bulb air temperature or rely solely on air to cool the working fluid to near the dry-bulb air temperature.

Why? I think your's is the first question we've had about cooling towers on here in nearly 9 years. We're mostly home inspectors here.

Posting about a cooling tower here holds about as much interest for most of us as a copy of War and Peace written in Mongolian.

Depends on the application. Would be best to call BAC (or another manufacture) for the fact finding.
