palmettoinspect Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 This was a metal cap installed between two townhomes built in 2007. It's not a roof vent. The only thing I can think is a cap for a firewall wall or something??? Click to Enlarge 73.74 KB

Ezra Malernee Canton, Ohio That's what I thought too but you can see the satellite cables to the right of the dish. Guess it could be though. Have you seen one like this before?
Steven Hockstein Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Never saw a wire cap like that for the antenna wires but I often see the satellite dish brackets installed this way. It makes me angry that a roofer that does the job right conceals almost all of the fasteners and then the dish installer thinks nothing of bolting through the roof surface. Just curious if anyone has seen roof leaks caused by this type of installation?
Brandon Whitmore Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 Just curious if anyone has seen roof leaks caused by this type of installation? I've seen some dampness on the sheathing, which would qualify. Never seen any drips or big problems as a result.
Ben H Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 It's a rain deflector to keep the neighbors water off each other...[] I have no clue really.

The roofers put it there, and the dish installers ignored it. Typical.
robert1966 Posted August 11, 2010 Report Posted August 11, 2010 I have seen similar metal tracks used on commercal roofs and parapet walls our apartment roofs for routing conduit and wiring.
