Any clue what is different about the new 1027s?
  3. 4 yrs old, fake lick and stick stone, 20 ft tall, 7 ft wide. My concern is the floor framing under it. No form of precaution was taken with this beast. Do you think it should have been beefed up at all? Seems like an awful lot of weight to me. No sigh of anything moving yet. Download Attachment: fireplace.jpg 1407.68 KB Click to Enlarge 57.67 KB
  4. I understand the no-no behind not attaching the ledger to the brick veneer. I am to understand now its a no-no to attach ANY ledger through or not to brick house? http://www.awc.org/publications/DCA/DCA6/DCA6-09.pdf Page 12.
  5. I've got a set of Nikons, Used them more on vacation a few years ago than I ever have looking at houses. One of my cameras has 21x optical zoom, I can reach out and touch just about anything, and take a pic of it.
  6. Square Up. Works perfectly, I get paid the next day. Bout 2.5-3% off the top, but I don't have chase money.
  7. Same here, but mine has a remote. I press low, it comes on and spins.
  8. Just last week I had a seller call me screaming that he couldn't anyone in town that had a clue how to bond the CSST in his 650k house. Not a single plumber or electrician knew anything. All said I was wrong, and it wasn't required. I tried to direct them to the Gastite TSB, but that failed as well. "I ain't got time to be looking stuff up. If you can't just tell me what to do, you don't need to be telling people to do it." Ah Kentucky.....
  9. You don't. Three light testers are ok as a quick go/no go look at a receptacle. They are completely useless if there is more than one defect in the receptacle wiring. They cannot detect multiple defects. BTW, I've found the Suretest to be very unreliable at detecting bootleg grounds. I may be really lucky, but I catch a few every month with mine. I do get false positives though. So I pull the receptacles and double check.
  10. That's because they are not good at their jobs. I had an agent once tell me that it's not her job to hold hands during the process. She "shows houses and goes to closings".
  11. Must be a region thing, never heard of Pabco.
  12. Horizon. Still lots of houses around here that have them, including my own.
  13. I've never seen a kickout installed. Not one.
  14. I bought a Fluke TIR several years ago. It is nice. If I had it to do over again, I would have bought the highest resolution on the market. Would it make any difference? No clue, but in my head it would.
  15. Not around here it seems. I've never seen a closet cleared out for attic access.
  16. Yup

  18. Makes sense.

  20. So I'm almost to the point of having carpet re-installed in the basement remodel. I was hoping someone with some experience on carpet pad could chime in about high end pad with single/dual moisture barrier. Is it worth the extra dough? Or, is it a must on concrete basement floor?
  21. You plan on walking around a home, with an iPad, and use it to take photos?
  22. If an ERV is out, how about a fan with humidity sensors built in. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-FV-11VQ ... B005XNWP5M
  23. My laptop has only two prongs. No idea why. All 3 of mine do, but my tower is grounded.
  24. If you really want to seal them: Caulk the box to the drywall, it sometimes takes a couple spins depending on how bad the cutout is. Kill the juice and hit the wire penetration with fire-stop foam. I have one of the pro guns that can leave the can on for long periods of time without drying up. Whenever I paint a new room, I always seal up the outlets and switches. If done correctly this will seal them 100%. Here is a shot from one I did back in November. Click to Enlarge 43.87 KB
