  1. Attacked by an animal while doing an inspection yesterday. It was horrible. There I was leaning way low looking at the bottom of a water heater. I felt something messing with the hair, what little there is, on the back of my head. I turn around and there it was. A rat. Teeth nibbling away. I thought about the slow death I was going to contract from rodentchia . Then I realized it was in a cage. It was a pet. The end!
  2. Is there a vent hiding in there somewhere for that P-trap?

Back in 08 I climbed up Half Dome when the cables were down. It's about 4700 vertical hike on a 7.5 mile each way trail. When I got to where I could see it there's a 400 vert steep hill to climb, with snow on it. It was scary with the snow on the trail. If you're going to slip it better be over some place you can catch yourself. Click to Enlarge 77.34 KB When I got to where I could see the cables it seemed too scary just to walk over to where they were, but I decided after coming all that way that I would just go over to where they started. What could be wrong with that? Felt like being on top of a school bus roof 4k feet in the air. They drop the cables down for the winter. Click to Enlarge 56.39 KB Hand over hand, up I went. Let's just go a little ways and see how it is. Not too fast cause I didn't want to get faint and loose my grip. From the getgo I did not look down. No mam, do not look down. Once on top it all became much more relaxing. Coming down was a piece of cake, slowly. I did a lot of rock climbing when I was 20 or so for a few years, but it goes away when you don't do it anymore. If you keep the skills up, no big deal. Click to Enlarge 73.11 KB
  4. Thanks for the input everyone!
  5. Thanks for the info everyone! Just didn't seem right to be over wood.
  6. Doesn't sound like it should be put over Redwood? ColorTek Paint Grade Exterior Stucco may applied over the following products: 1. One coat stucco 2. Brown coat 3. Stucco 4. CMU/poured-in-place and/or tilt-up concrete/masonry 5. Approved Omega base coats and/or cementitious finishes
  7. What do you suppose makes the texture? Seems like a somewhat recent application. Good luck matching that if you ever have to fix it.
  8. It's a 64 built redwood. Very back room was added on.
  9. Thanks Mark
  10. 1964 built. There's about 8 cracks around the perimeter foundation. Some are only 5 feet apart. Most are a little wider at the top. No footers for the piers. You can see the dip in the siding and it correlates with the dip in the kitchen floor. Is this par for a house this old or time for a geotech? 13. Not much power going to it. What do you think it would be used for? Click to Enlarge 23.1 KB
  14. Mid way through this foundation there's this additional beam/post support perpendicular to the other beams. I wonder why it's there? Click to Enlarge 48.12 KB Click to Enlarge 28.2 KB Click to Enlarge 29.06 KB Click to Enlarge 51.31 KB
  15. I'm not sure how it drains off. I didn't see any moisture stains on the interior. Too high to see much from the exterior. Kind of a silly question, don't you think? [:-wiltel] Click to Enlarge 55.44 KB

  20. 100 amp main feeds the only sub panel in the house. It has a 1 AWG aluminum feeder. Code check says it needs to be a 1/0 if aluminum. So, to a sub panel, this is true? Click to Enlarge 84.4 KB
  21. Thank you, thank you very much!
  22. Because it is a separate building with more than one circuit it should have a ground rod, right? And the only way to tie one in would be to have a sub panel, right? It would have to be a 4 wire feeder because of the concrete patio that touches both foundations, right?
  23. The garage has 4 cables going into it coming from the main panel on the house. Being a separate building shouldn't it have a sub panel and ground rod? Click to Enlarge 62.01 KB Click to Enlarge 51.72 KB
  24. Yep, I've seen vents way far away from a shower P-trap, or not at all, but never a P-trap out in the middle of nowhere with no fixture above it. Well, maybe one other time.
  25. It's draining away from me towards middle of house. Weird.
