  1. We had a similar situation last Saturday. I try and confine my appointments to Monday-Friday, but will occasionally make an exception, and charge extra for weekend inspections. On Saturday, we show up 20 minutes early and start on the outside. At 10 a.m., no client, no agent. I try the buyers cell...no answer. I page the agent, and she calls me back about 15 minutes later. I asked her "Don't we have an inspection today?". She repied "Not that I'm aware of". When I told her the clients name, she said that it had been done that Wednesday. I didn't blow a gasket until about an hour later, the buyer called. I knew that there was little chance of recouping my fee, but I did let her know in no uncertain terms that I certainly didn't appreciate wasting my time on a Saturday morning when I had numerous other things I would have rather been doing. Fwiw, the appointment was scheduled by the client, and confirmed on the Tuesday prior to the appointment. As Paul said....Sh*t happens. It was too nice a day to let it ruin the rest of it. 2. Congrats to Jim Katen... It was a large wooden turntable in the carport. The story was that the wife or daughter never learned to back the car, so duh, instead of teaching them, have a turntable installed. Jim...for your prize, you can choose what's behind curtain #1, or what Jay is bringing down the isle in the box. Jay!!! Jay!!! Watch out for that mic cord!!! tumble, tumble, tumble. Thanks for playing "Name that Gizmo" David
  3. Good guesses so far, but no cigar. One of Rob's theories was close, but not specific enough. The device does create movement for the other end of this contraption. Not something that one would come across likely more than once in a lifetime, if at all. I'll leave it at that for now, and see what other guesses come in before I reveal the answer. David
  4. I saw this on Friday, and at first, couldn't figure out what the heck it was. It was not until later in the inspection that I discovered what it is used for. Clue...The home was built in 1978, but this feature is not circa 1978. The device was installed in a remote, mostly inaccessible area of the crawl space, near the carport entrance of the house. I'll post the answer in a few days, or you can email me for the answer. David Fogle HomeScope Property Inspections Augusta, Ga. Download Attachment: P1010059.jpg 81.32 KB
  5. My training says that a recirculating exhaust fan can only be installed above an electric range, but that the exhaust fan over a gas range must be vented to the exterior. FWIW, the exhaust fan is part of an over the range microwave, in new construction. Can anyone post a code reference (IRC or Cabo if applicable. Any other codes will do) that makes this requirement, or am I off my rocker? (That may be a whole different thread) I know the manufacturer specs may require this as well. If possible, please cut and paste the applicable code so that I can reference it to a builder, as I do not have access to my code books at the time being. Any help would be appreciated, David Fogle HomeScope Augusta, Ga.
