  1. I use Go To My PC for my pest control company and it works great. The software package I use for the PC company is on a desktop in the office. Techs use their Motion tablets in the field with air cards and just log on access everything they need from their schedule to client docs and they never need to go to the office. I could put the software on each tablet but then I would have to make sure everyone synchronized daily with the main computer. This way I can monitor (or my wife can. She handles the day to day PC company stuff )everything that happens in real time.
  2. I have a dedicated circulation system with a Grundfos pump that has both a timer and aquastat. No since running it from about 11:00pm to 7:00am.
  3. Yea give me jpeg capability for under $200.00 and I'm in.
  4. I would recommend a cricket, include code verbiage, and be on my merry way.
  5. Absolutely. The "Happy Home Inspector" and one of the other large outfits from the big city to the north are doing the chicken little at every realtor function available. Of course they are now offering a specialized inspection to detect the deadly Chinese drywall. I'm also starting to receive phone calls almost daily from venders selling their Chinese drywall detection wares. I'm not convinced there are any health issues related to the drywall (neither is the CDC) but that won't stop the train.
  6. Been using it for 10 years. Works for me but a guy could be proficient with a crayon and poster board after 10 years. The pda thing sucks. I complete my reports onsite right from the countertop. I stopped annotating photo's years ago. I just drop several pics directly under the comments. A buying person reads the comment, looks at the picture, and says "oh yea I get it". If the Sesame Street approach is difficult than the buying person needs to just continue writing rent checks.
  7. Looks like threaded rod (Simpson Strong Tie) that you would normally see in the wall cavity.
  8. While were talking computer stuff, I just purchased a refurb Motion 1600LE tablet with view anywhere screen, 60GB HD, and 512MB DDR2 ram for $479.00 for my pest control guy. The thing looks and so far acts like new. www.gainsaver.com.
  9. Either buy cheap balls or hit a 5 iron off the tee:)
  10. I just wipe my feet at the door like Mama taught me.
  11. I got the TK about a month ago and I'm still using the same 2 CR123 batteries (not the rechargeable ones) I originally put in it. I use it on low beam 99% of the time but it just won't quit. I've been extremely busy (40 insp in the last 30 days) with a number of crawls. I use it just like I've been using the US for the last 10 years. I've started carrying spares into the attic and crawls now but I'm gonna run it till it quits just to see how long it will last.
  12. I really don't care who pays the fee as long as it's paid. The inspection and report would not be any different regardless who it was intended for. It is what it is. I haven't had anyone sign a contract in the last 10 years. Works for me.
  13. I'm with Katen. I wouldn't even mention it. It's definitely not shelter tubes.
  14. Ditto on the nuvi 750/755. I don't even think about where I'm going.
  15. That would be for when you want to go Groucho mode.
  16. You will like the Fenix Terry. I've been an Ultrastinger man for the last 10 years and used the Fenix for the first time yesterday. Impressive light in a very small and cool package.
  17. I found a mole on a roof once. I'm guessing a bird dropped it.
  18. Yea I sat in one one of his seminars at some conference somewhere a year or so ago. He makes sense. It's like Dennis Miller talking about the building envelope.
  19. I bet you can't whack a ticked off dog with the Fenix like you can with the Ultra Stinger![] That's what the XD9 is for.
  20. I've been using Mozy for some time now and it works great.
  21. A real "tall" man.
  22. That would be a mechanical AAV (air admittance valve). Its the wrong type of AAV for this construction but hey if your gonna use an empty tube of caulk for a pipe I guess it really don't matter.
  23. Click to Enlarge 71.29 KB
  24. Click to Enlarge 35.46 KB
  25. Yea I try and shy away from the church jobs. Shame ain't it. I'm a Deacon at a 2500+ Baptist Church and I don't advertise what I do for a living. The Sunday school director still owes me $475.00 for a home inspection that I did for her over 6 months ago. I see her every week as the wife and I teach a class. I just smile and nod. Kinda chaps my butt though.
