  1. KM, I could not resist ... you set me up!!! [] [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F_G2zp-opg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="344">
  2. I've been digging out shrub roots in the the front and rear flowerbeds. Been digging and tracking the sprinkler lines in the beds to pull them up before I hit it with the tiller. Time available ... so am redoing the beds. October has provided only 5 inspections. Slowest I've been in over 8 years.
  3. Save for when the youngster on the tricycle tried to cross the beam path[:-bigeyes
  4. Happy B-Day Marc!! BTW - could not resist the below image ... it was a perfect setup!!! Click to Enlarge 8.88 KB
  5. I've been using Vonage for the past 6-7 years with no issues. Albeit my internet service is from Verizon FIOS ... "smoking fast" fiber optics. Helps to have the bandwidth. When I first signed on with Vonage I had two separate lines from them as one was for a company I was consulting for while doing HIs. The internet service was basic DSL and still no problems with the Vonage VOIP service.
  6. "Caulked joint" Must be so ... it contains the "letters". [^]
  7. Katen is just doing his part to ensure a balance of information for future web searches on the 'crappy' products that folks are trying to scam. []
  8. TM - My experience has been that there 'is' cold water flow when no h/w is present on the single-control valves. Can't say I've experienced all makes/models of the single-control valves and I've had many, from vacant homes, where the 'hot' side of the single-control cartridge fails to operate. Seems as if the single-control valves (varies by manufacturer) have more failures when they are idle or not operated for extended lengths of time. Such as vacant properties. I've had one client advise me that the single-control valves (h/w side of cartridge) would not work after a couple of months in the 2nd floor of their home. They pretty much never used the upstairs bathrooms as they had not yet populated the bedrooms with their "yet to be born" young-ins.
  9. Scott, Erby's direction for the 'logo watermark' in the images is very good. I've been using it over the past few weeks without fail. Click to Enlarge 69.9 KB
  10. Joe, You can't sell that bridge ... I have the 'deed' in my lockbox []
  11. Mike, I need an education here. Where did you grab the URL link for that topic so you could paste in your posting? I've been searching, but can't seem to find it.
  12. How is the LCD display in the sunlight? That is what is a killer for me on my Canon A630 ... but it is an older unit.
  13. Robert, Here is a document that Douglas Hansen did concerning FPE Panels. Download Attachment: HansenFPE.pdf 751.54 KB
  14. Do a search here at TIJ for FPE or Federal Pacific and you will find a lot of information concerning the Federal Pacific problems. I'm surprised you have not seen those panels before in the Houston market. I used to live and inspect there years ago and saw them all over.
  15. Maybe part of a new mandatory healthcare initiative. It can test coordination, as you have to step around to get past or it could be part of an overall planned obstacle course for the neighborhood. [:-dunce]
  16. Since Goodman (and their upper level Amana) was taken back "private" they have made extraordinary strides in quality. I've been through their factory in Houston twice and was very impressed. In fact I had to replace my complete HVAC system last fall and I went with an Amana. Best warranty, best price from all the quotes I received. On the other side ... there are also many other good systems out there.
  17. I knew it ... JK has confirmed it. He works part-time for the Chamber of Commerce for the State of Oregon!!! Actually ... his information is spot on. In all the states I've lived in throughout the U.S (I have only done a lot of work in prior lives in Oregon) I've not had the privilege of living in Oregon. I have a very close friend, who used to work for me (many years past) who, along with his wife, has retired to Joseph, OR. My wife and I are hoping to get up to see them next year on holiday.
  18. Randy, What? You want to slow the drift and get back to the OP? Actually ... it was very funny and typical. I've heard it many times ... "in person". Chad -- really now, get some speakers. It is quite good.
  19. Gave up the desktop PC many years ago. Been using notebooks every since, but with "large" external flat-screen and keyboard via docking station. Can grab 'n go with the notebook from the office as necessary. Usually try to plan/budget for a new notebook every 2-3 years. I've burned through many keyboards as well. Some on the notebook itself and some remote/desktop units. Some are just better than others in their response and stability. Smith Corona image below was not the 'mill' I learned 'touch typing' on, but it was my first "portable" typewriter. Click to Enlarge 13.9 KB

  21. Mike, Out of curiosity ... who sponsored or put on the talk? I'm assuming a local or state code official, but was it set up by the 'building officials organization' for VA?
  22. Fellow Texas inspector/friend of mine sent me this a bit earlier this afternoon. Must be about making sure your bases are covered for all possible avenues of business/revenue. [?] Download Attachment: TDS NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2010.pdf 834.16 KB
