Polyiso Thermal Gard foam sheathing on interior basement. It's clearly labeled "combustible". Does this emit a toxic gas when burned? I've seen it used on exterior but is it acceptable for interior? Click to Enlarge 28.72 KB Click to Enlarge 51.58 KB
I'm not really up on all the new techniques but my grand daddy was a plasterer and I was a commercial metal lather for 30 years. We lathed over many, many concrete walls with expanded metal lath. The plasterers would cover that with 1/2" mud. Seemed to work pretty good.
The first time I spoke to the RE assoc, I said that I used the canisters. They all looked at me like I was an idiot (because I was). I sucked it up and bought a Sun Nuclear 1028.
I first saw terra cotta block in the early 80's while remodeling the original Broadway store building in Los Angeles. It was used for fireproofing around the old riveted beams. I had to knock some of it off to weld stickers to the beams and found a rat fully intact. There were hoof prints in the concrete sub floors from the mules that were used on the job. Very interesting indeed.
Does anyone advertise in their local home buyers magazine? Is it worth it? I just inquired with a local magazine. For a one year contract it would cost $100 a month. $125 a month if partial year. Maybe I could just advertise during the summer.
You guys have street names, lucky. I got 64 miles up hwy 87 turn on dirt road for 5 miles, turn left at old barn...... Nolan, You know what I'm talking about. You Plentywooder.
It looks like it was chemically etched. I originally thought a weedeater got out of control. I believe it is fiberboard. @ Erby, I took the photo before I got up from my nap.

I just got off the phone with an agent in town. This is the second agent I've spoken with this week that is concerned about the length of my report. I'm using AHIT's program and I realize that half of the report is boilerplate. So my report is about 30 pages long that includes everything I've inspected. Good or bad. I asked him what he is used to and he told me 2 pages. I asked how long the other inspectors take on a job. 2 hours. I'm taking about 4 hours. I verbalize with my clients the good and bad as we walk. I'm a rookie but am I that far off?????
When I was in France I got to see those cool Turkish toilets. Lean against the wall and poop in a hole in the floor. Oh yeah, no partitions either [:-yuck].
It may prevent sewer gases from entering the home but in my humble opinion it doesn't "flush" the drain as a p-trap is supposed to do. I bet they clog fairly easily.
