They are using PPC to get inspections (like booking.com and hotels). I can setup adwords or bing/yahoo ads for you or anyone else in your own name and account if you want. I also have the spend 100 and get 300 free coupons... but you have to spend the 100 within 14 days to get it (new accounts only). A brand new website isn't going to make it to page 1 in a competitive area unless you use PPC. Your website still has to be compelling enough to get them to convert though. Michael

Unfortunately TIJ is always under attack from hackers. Yes we had a new kind of hack yesterday. Kurt alerted us and it was fixed within minutes. They had loaded the script up on another site and they found it right away also and deleted it yesterday so nothing should show up today? Cached maybe? This hole has been plugged. Michael

I guess somebody missed this post back in 2012 (maybe someone nuked link) but erobinsc and JustMitch are same ip... it seems easy to spot them after this many years LOL. I guess it should be explained how Canvas does their product reviews? He dropped one here also: https://www.inspectorsjournal.com/forum ... Home Safe vs Assured Home Inspection
Michael Brown replied to Russe777's topic in InfraredThermography
Home safe was talked about here before: https://www.inspectorsjournal.com/forum ... C_ID=13561 https://www.inspectorsjournal.com/forum ... IC_ID=8940 https://www.inspectorsjournal.com/forum ... IC_ID=8010 Pretty sure we punted somebody from home safe for making fake posts and answering them on the board a few years ago. I'm no lawyer but can give you contact information for a company that is very good at finding prior art citations that can be used to invalidate patents. It's contingency basis, if they find prior art citations you have to pay. Playing poker one might think that's a fight that could end up invalidating the very patent and they may want to move on to easier targets. Telling them you don't have the funds to fight isn't what I would do first off. I would be letting them know how much it was going to cost them and the risks they take by engaging you. Patent trolls won't like that kind of fight, they want to intimidate you into settling and move on to the next victim. BTW: Patent infringement and copyright infringement are completely different. Let me know if you want the contact info? Michael -

Trojan Horse Alert - Bob Kille acuspect.com & Blog
Michael Brown replied to Michael Brown's topic in News Around The Net
Update! Looks like Bob Kille's site has been hacked again as reported by Google. Users are warned once again to stay away from his websites. Click to Enlarge 11.13 KB Michael Brown -
I really like the look, menus etc. but... no text content on the front page for SEO or clients, and no title tags for SEO. SEO is not very good at all. Maybe you don't need new clients in your area? I would also switch out the get a quote with a book an inspection now form and call to action button. And now I want to see the whole car ... LOL! Michael

Changing Software
Michael Brown replied to greggovett's topic in Computers & Reporting Systems Forum
Yes Inspext Express runs inside MS Word so getting going maybe a little more trouble at first (free support tho). We still get emails... I opened your software and it just opened a blank Word document... they don't notice the toolbar tab right away. Also if we wrote dumbed down software it would have no features and not be customizable. We have a bigger learning curve because of these things. We have all of our features and all of MS Words features... no other software has that kind of flexability. We would sell more to new inspectors if it had no features, we sell more software to older inspectors that really look at the software and final output closely before buying. Inspect Express has automation features that make doing a high volume of inspections easy and fast by being able to set defaults and edit data on the fly. For an inspector only doing 5 inspections a month our software may not be the best choice. Our software doesn't write a checklist either like HG or Whisper with NI/NP/NR and legend etc., it's narrative software. Honestly if you are going to write a checklist report with software... you should just use a pen and paper form as it's faster (like the Texas archaic report format LOL). We think our software is a great fit for some but not all. There are only a couple of good inspection programs on the market and a ton of junk out there. You need to find software that fits your style... and after this many years I can say everyone has their own. Trouble is that most of the junk is easy to learn as it has no features... what ever you use make sure the vendor has a phone number and don't be afraid to use it. Michael -
Changing Software
Michael Brown replied to greggovett's topic in Computers & Reporting Systems Forum
Hi Joe, In Version 4 on the Database menu is an option for "Bulk Edit Data Comments" with the description "Extract all the comments to document for editing." (in V3 it was called data dump) You can write all of the observations to a document edit the whole thing to make it your own and then suck them back into the database with the click of a button. Everyone writes different, you have to make it your own. The dropdowns for the descriptions have more options than you will need for your areas... you can just right click them and delete the entries you are not going to use (much faster than writing them). We also answer our phone, email and you can even send us your report if you want some tips. Michael Brown 1-888-739-4033 inspectexpress.com -

Why are only a few new posts showing-- virus ?
Michael Brown replied to Brandon Whitmore's topic in Open Topics
Brandon, The virus showing sometimes and sometimes not is becuase it was injected into a javascript file and this file is cached in your browser. That's why many couldn't see it in some browsers as they were running off the cached version without the virus. It was more likely to show up on a new post or a browser that had not been on TIJ before. The site is clean now. Michael -
We found out how he uploaded the php script that wrote the other iframe code... that hole hasn't been blocked yet but the php scripts will no longer run on the server. The php script was used to write the iframe script with the virus in one of the other javascripts we have. This was certainly an attack directed at TIJ and he had to spend a bit of time to make it happen. Now we need to have google rescan the site.
-
I looks like I got but wanted to make absolutely sure. Php was enabled by default and we certainly don't need it. It looks like I found how it was uploaded. From everything I read this is a php hack and disabling all php is going to stop it dead. I wanted to make sure that it didn't inject any scripts also anywhere. I scanned the site a couple times now and all looks okay so far.
-
What page any info to go with it? I'm not getting anything but google's alert?
-
Yes it looks like we were hit with an attack from a Russian hacker site. TIJ User: Falknat Uploaded a php script to the server it was in the Falknat directory named 332.php. I have the file saved and will decompile it when I get a minute. He has no posts, so I'm still not sure how he triggered the script? The only .php file we have running is on the addthis buttons (bookmarks.php) and it's on their site. I disabled the php scripts on the server so they won't run at all now. The site runs in asp anyway. We still need to fix how he uploaded the file and find out how he linked to it. Anyone delete a post from him? What pages triggered it? This is all I have on him right now: email:Fantom-pro@mail.ru IP 188.64.170.188 Host h1net188-64-170-188.h1host.ru Country Code RU Country Name Russian Federation Latitude 60 Longitude 100 Click to Enlarge 9.12 KB

They sure do! First time I ever heard her sing? I'm sure all those who have kids have had those amazing kid moments in their lives... I was just lucky enough to get a recording! Thanks to the DJ for posting it. Thanks for taking the time to listen and letting me share this with you. Michael

Thought I would share one of those proud dad moments with you... My daughter recently signed up to be DJ for an hour on one of the local radio stations (http://www.thezone.fm/music/#myturn). I guess for the last month they have let some listeners bring in their playlists and be the DJ. Yesterday was her day and somehow at the end she got talked into playing guitar and singing on the air live! Is ZenOK online Backup a good one?
Michael Brown replied to mikerudot1011's topic in Computers & Reporting Systems Forum
I think we need a new policy so we can charge for removing these threads later... when the owners call... telling us that the SEO company they hired did this! These guys waste our time and our anti spam policy is on the signup page right next to the agree button. All I have to say is "ZenOK sucks" is this page at the top of google... good work Jim!
